Settling into our new house

Posted on Thursday, 15 May 2014

Firstly, let me apologise for not posting in a week! We've been super busy moving into our new house! We picked up the keys on Friday, went to Bristol on Saturday to pack up everything from our old house and on Sunday, loaded it all into a big truck and drove it all back down to our new house. This week we've been busy finding places for all our stuff and just generally putting the house together.

We don't have any broadband installed in our new house yet either so our posts won't be very regular until then. The man is coming to install it on the 30th of this month so we'll be back online then... That's if mum hasn't gone into labour by then! She's into the last month of pregnancy now and is sporting some pretty huge elephant feet.

Speaking of labour, Brian has just laid her fourth clutch of eggs in six months. Poor girl.

Anyway, I must tell you more about our new house! It's brilliant here! I even have my own garden! I've never had a garden before as we previously lived in a coach house. The best thing about having my own garden is that I finally have somewhere to enjoy chomping on my filled hooves without mum and dad complaining about how much they stink.

Mum and dad have been taking me for walks on the Tarka Trail every morning this week. We're very lucky to have the trail running behind our house. It's beautiful and incredibly tranquil.

I think it's fair to say we're going to really enjoy living here :) Oh and did I mention I love my new garden? Hehe

A to Z Reflection

Posted on Thursday, 8 May 2014

This was our first year participating in the A to Z Challenge and we thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, we're a bit sad it's over!

We think we sailed through it rather successfully. We started off very well, getting most of our letter themes jotted down before the challenge began. We mostly wrote our posts the night before and even managed to get L, M, N and O written in the same day, ready and scheduled well in advance. We did start to flag towards the end (once we hit 'R') and found it quite difficult to find inspiration for our posts but we did it! We survived and we managed to get every post out on the day.

We've discovered a tonne of new blogs in the process and we're pleased to see lot's of new readers finding us too. Thank you all for leaving such lovely comments and feedback on our posts too.

We thought we'd be moving house in the midst of it all but the dates got pushed back which meant we weren't stressing too much over our posts - although we're still waiting to move in now! (Paws crossed it's this weekend).

This challenge has made us think a lot about how we blog and we feel it has brought our blogging on in leaps and bounds. We actually can't quite believe how many daily views we were getting! We got super organised with our posts thanks to a special blogger planner to help with post ideas and for logging the sharing of our content across the different social media platforms. Check out MamaMiss to get your own cute organiser!

A look back at the posts from the challenge:

We look forward to next years challenge!

Meet Boris

Posted on Thursday, 1 May 2014

This is Boris! Bella's new little brother. He's a Maltonka! (Maltese x Bolonka)

I went to meet him for the first time yesterday... He sure is a strange little fella.
I wasn't even sure if he was a dog at first...

He seems completely harmless though. He's only 10 weeks at the moment but already loves clambering up and down the stairs - which is an amazing achievement for a pup his size!

You can't deny - he is exceptionally cute!
Mum just needs to learn how to take better pictures of him now.

I is for Interview

Posted on Thursday, 10 April 2014

It's another day of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge! We have the letter 'I' so today, mum and I shall be taking part in a little interview to give you guys the chance to get to know us a bit better :)

What's the most embarrassing thing you've done with your pet/human?
Bernie:   I accidentally got pee'd on and mum just laughed
Louise:   It was probably when Bernie pee'd on that little boys ball at the beach. Funny that both our answers are pee related

Besides blogging, what are your hobbies?
Bernie:   Pooping, eating and sleeping
Louise:   I love getting my head stuck into a good book. Oh, and anything that involves Bernie - I enjoy exploring new places with him and teaching him new tricks.

How long have you been blogging?
Bernie:   We've only been blogging seriously since the beginning of last month
Louise:   Yep, we opened the blog March last year but never fully committed ourselves to it until March this year. Now we post everyday!

If you were to write the story of your life, what would you title it?
Bernie:   A dog's guide to sniffing out yummies on walks
Louise:   What dogs taught me

If you could have one wish (and it actually came true) what would it be?
Bernie:   Unlimited sardines!
Louise:   For dogs to have longer lifespans

What is your favorite place in the whole world?
Bernie:   Anywhere so long as it's within a metre of my mum
Louise:   Home - North Devon :) Having just moved back here from the city I forgot how much I took for granted growing up here - the beautiful beaches, the endless countryside and the friendliness of everyone who lives here

What is a perfect Sunday morning like for you?
Bernie:   Breakfast is ready before I'm even up and then we go to sniff some butts on the beach
Louise:   Up early - I hate to waste my day. A good fry up followed by a walk with our little family

What is your favorite thing to eat?
Bernie:   My favourite meal comes in these little blue pouches
Louise:   Bernie means Wainwrights Tuna and Vegetable pouches. He's not lying either, he absolutely loves them. My favourite thing is Hockings Ice Cream. They're a local ice cream company who park up their vans in the local parks and beaches and sell the yummiest ice cream. I've been eating it since I was a child.

What's your theme song?
Bernie:   Dun nun nun nun nun nun nun nun BATMAN!
Louise:   Haha no, Bernies would be Mahna-mahna (the muppet version). Mine would be one by Queen, probably 'Don't stop me now'

If you could sit down to dinner with any living celebrity or public figure, who would it be?
Louise:   Leonardo Dicaprio

What is your favorite beverage?
Bernie:   Water, I guess...
Louise:   Nothing beats a good cuppa

If you had to choose between only books or only TV which would you choose?
Bernie:   TV! I love to watch the telly
Louise:   I think I would also have to go with TV simply because I love movies

Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Bernie:   Neither, I'm a Frenchie, I sleep all the time!
Louise:   Early bird

What is your best trick?
Bernie:   I can speak on command :)
Louise:   I can roll my tongue? Haha, I don't do tricks

Do you have or have you had any nicknames?
Bernie:   Loaf, piglet, little ham
Louise:   Weezey, lou, mum

What is the first thing you notice when you meet someone new?
Bernie:   Whether they have a dog with them or not. I want to meet them either way
Louise:   I'd have to say the same, except I'm not as friendly as Bernie and don't particularly want to say hello to every stranger I meet

What is your least favorite mode of transportation?
Bernie:   The boot of the car. I used to ride up front but I got too big :(
Louise:   Trains - I'm not sure why, they just never feel completely safe to me

C is for Care

Posted on Thursday, 3 April 2014

It's day three of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge! Today, we've been given the letter 'C'.

We're doing pretty well with the challenge so far and we're not going to lie, we're thoroughly enjoying it! We've been popping over to other pet blogs to see how they're all getting on too and have seen some brilliant theme ideas for each of the letters.

To find out more about the challenge Click Here!

We've chosen today to show that we CARE.

April is the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month. By wearing the color orange, or posting the patented ORANGE RIBBON, also known as the "Animal Guardian Ribbon" on your Facebook, Twitter and Blog pages in April, you can help to take a stand against animal cruelty.

Wear an orange ribbon with us this month and help spread awareness in hope of educating others and helping vulnerable animals.
