Review: Pawsome Box

Posted on Tuesday, 4 August 2015

We can never turn down the chance to do a Pawsome Box review.
What could be better than receiving a box of goodies and surprises from the Postie?!
Nothin' I tell you!

Check out our other Pawsome Box reviews:

We were very impressed with the amount and variety of toys, treats and other items we
received in our box. The box was practically full to the brim!
Here's a detailed list of what we received:
(photo taken from the back of the booklet received in our box)

What did we make of the contents?

The treats went down... well, a treat! (Of course).

This toy is our favourite item from the box. Perfect for playing tug of war with my human baby brother. I love it so much that mum's had to re-stuff and sew it back together a few times for me. She's ace like that :)
Some other items include:
A blue rubber bone toy which has been taken ownership of by my human baby brother, I wasn't so interested in it but it seems popular with him!
A green pop-up water bowl which is going to come in handy for our walks.
And a tube of multivitamin paste to support a healthy diet.

Overall; compared to the first Pawsome Box we reviewed, the products in the box seem of much higher quality and variety... Meaning, the boxes are getting better every month! We also really like their website; the interface is incredibly user friendly, it's eye-catching and easy to understand when it comes to who they are and what they do.

Another brilliant box, thanks Pawsome Box!

Review: Meaty Sweeties by Pure

Posted on Tuesday, 14 April 2015

Another review from Pure!
This time we've been given the opportunity to try out and review their brand new product; Meaty Sweeties!

Here we have the Chicken & Coconut flavour. They also come in Duck & Apple flavour. These treats are grain free, naturally dehydrated and are "made with nothing but fresh human grade ingredients with a consistency not too tough, but not too crumbly."

Just like their food, these 'Meaty Sweeties' contain "No rendered meats or derivatives, no wheat, corn or soya, colours, taste enhancers, sweeteners or any other nasty bits".

Our first impressions of the treats were very good indeed! We particularly liked the texture, the smell and the packaging.

Let's take a look at the ingredients:
Chicken (65%) Honey, Coconut (10%) Coconut Oil & Organic Molasses

We really like the fact that these treats contain Coconut Oil as we already use this alongside meal times. If you didn't already know, Coconut Oil has loads of benefits for dogs! (And humans too!)

And finally.... The all-important taste test...

...Deee-licious! That went down a TREAT! =P

Why not have a read of our previous Pure reviews?

This being the third review we have done for Pure Pet Food, we must say how delightful it has been exchanging emails with the company over the past months. Their customer service has been friendly and the products have always been sent out to us quickly.
Thanks again to the guys at Pure

Review: Pure's new recipe

Posted on Thursday, 12 March 2015

The guys over at Pure Pet Food have sent us a box of their brand new Turkey Terrific food to review! Yum! - and just in time! We've only gone and run out of our usual food again.

We did a review for Pure back in December when we first got to try out their delicious food - we weren't disappointed: Pure Review

We were fans of Pure back then and we still are now! We like how easy the food is to prepare (Check out our previous review for a step by step preparation guide) and also how little cupboard space the box takes up!

Let's take a quick look at the new recipe:
Turkey (20%), Potato, Parsnip, Carrot, Beef Liver (8%), Green Beans, Apple, Cabbage & Minerals (All ingredients dehydrated)

A well balanced, healthy food! A big paws up from us!

"Mum, can we stop posing next to the box and get to my favourite part of the review, PLEASE!"

"Mmm, yummy! This is just, well... Terrific!"

We only have one problem...

Their trial boxes need to be bigger!
:-D

Valentines Review: BarkBeats (and £5 off voucher code)

Posted on Saturday, 14 February 2015

Happy Valentines!

We have a review for you today from BarkBeats
(There is a £5 off voucher code for you all at the bottom too! Should you wish to subscribe - which we recommend you do!)

BarkBeats is a monthly subscription box full of goodies for your furry friend. They got in touch with us and asked if we'd review one of their boxes for them... Of course we would!

Let's check out the goods! They sent us out their Valentine's box! How very lovely!

We're a fan the packaging inside and out - a lovely touch

What's in our box?...

I (Bernie) went for the Dog Lips before anything else, we all know how much I love my soft toys so this was a big hit!

I've just run out of my normal Shampoo so this Oh My Dog! Shampoo couldn't have arrived at a better time! My last bath was a super soapy one... Something to do with fox poo...

The Heart Oreo Cookie looks fantastic and tastes even better!!

A Doggy Chocolate Bar?! Better not tell mum that humans can also eat it!

These Goodogs Snacks smell delicious! They're soft and chewy too!

My little human brother helped me in getting (well, tipping) everything out of the box

The Ancol Plush Dog Lips are just hilarious!! It has a squeaker in the back which encourages the dog to hold it this way around in their mouth. Teeheehee

The Heart Oreo Cookie went down an absolute treat and there's still crumbs in the bed for later!

Overall, we're very impressed with the contents of the box! We really like their website also - It's very easy to navigate and we especially love the gallery of happy recipients on their homepage.

How does it work?
 Just 3 simple steps!
1. Select the size of your dog; Small, Medium or Large
2. Choose your plan; 1 month, 6 months or 12 months
3. Enter your delivery and payment details

Oh and 1 more thing!...
Don't forget to use this special code at the checkout to get £5 off your order! 'BERNIE5'

Review: Pawsome Box Christmas Special!

Posted on Sunday, 11 January 2015

Yes, we know it's late! We only received our Pawsome Box on Friday and we're only just posting this now to allow ourselves two days to test out all the goodies! We're guessing the postman must have been reeaalllyy busy over the Christmas period!

You may remember us doing a review on one of their boxes back in September: Review: Pawsome Box

So, what's in the box?

We like The Paw notes booklet that comes with every box. This edition contains doggie news, how to protect your Xmas tree from your curious dog, doggie themed buys (lot's of frenchie and pug themed stuff!) and some info on Xmas foods to keep out of reach of your dog! Plus, on the back is a list of everything you've received in your box!

And we got a neat stocking to put it all in! (Also doubles up as a head-rest!)

Let's get those goodies back out the sack and take a closer look at them!

The Super Plush Santa was an immediate hit! Nothing beats a good game of tug with a good soft toy!

Mum really likes the grooming glove and so do I, it feels lovely and gets out so much loose hair! I can't have the rawhide candy canes so we're going to gift those to my friends, Bella and Boris. The Christmas tree squeaker and the tough candy cane toys are also brilliant!

And the chicken fillet treats were even better! For a dog who has a habit of swallowing things whole, these treats broke up really nicely!

We're big Christmas lovers so receiving this box to review was an absolute delight! Thanks Pawsome Box!

Review: Pure Pet Food & Discount Code!

Posted on Tuesday, 9 December 2014

It's Tasty Tuesday and we've got
a rather tasty review for you today!
(There's also a discount code at the bottom of the post!)

Pure Pet Food got in touch and asked if we'd like to review their dog food. We'll let you into a little secret... We actually got sent a free sample last year when we first heard about them and loved it, so we're more than happy to do a review to tell all our lovely readers about it!

You can read the full story here but in a nutshell, Pure was founded by two childhood friends, Dan and Mat, who one day asked themselves "Why would you feed your dog something you wouldn't eat yourself?" The pair decided to go back to basics and create dog food recipes solely from fresh, raw, human quality ingredients. Pure, dehydrate their food to avoid the harsh cooking process involved in making commercial pet foods. By doing so they make the food last, whilst preserving the natural goodness of the ingredients! They have 4 different recipes to choose from; Chicken Delicious (The food we got sent), Duck Delight, Chicken Dinner and Vegi Plus - All us folks have to do at home is add warm water!

What did we think?

Ooh a package! There's nothing more exciting than when a package arrives at the door and it's for me!

The box actually came in perfect condition... I just got a bit too excited and jumped on it, oops.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX MUM?!

Another box? I think someone's having a laugh with me here, this isn't pass the parcel.

Something is smelling good though!

*Please let it be food, pleeaasee let it be food!*

Huh? That doesn't look like food?

There's a scoop, a clip to reseal the bag, a leaflet and... A big bag of light brown powder???

Where's the food? I can definitely smell chicken!

Hmm, I was dubious as mum grabbed my food bowl. I listened to her read the directions...
"Okay, if Bernie is around 12kg I'll pop in a scoop and a half of powder. Yep that seems about right..."

So this powder is the food... Oookay...

"And exactly the same with the warm water, a scoop and a half."

Mum, maybe I should re-read those directions, this can't be right?

"And stir well. Mmm, looks appetizing, eh Bernie!"

No, no mum it certainly does not... If anything, it's ruined.

Surely you can't expect me to eat that.

"And now we leave it for 10-15 minutes"

Aww, what?!

I have no idea how long that is in dog time but I bet it's really long :(

Still waiting....

Mum, it's got to be ready now right?

I hope it looks better than it did before as it's smelling really tasty!

 Oh Cool!

That now looks as good as it smells!

Is it ready to be eaten?

 Om-nom

I have some on my face you say?

... Saving that bit for later

And my conclusion... Speaks for itself!

We would definitely recommend Pure! The small bag we received when rehydrated actually equates to a 2kg bag of dog food! Pretty impressive! We're keeping ours stashed in the cupboard, fresh (thanks to our free resealing clip) for those days when we run out of our usual brand of dog food.

If you fancy treating your dog to some Pure Pet Food don't forget to enter "BERNIE" at the checkout to receive 10% off your order! (The website by the way, is totally awesome and really fun to explore).

Review: PetShopBowl

Posted on Monday, 17 November 2014

Morning all! We have a review for you all today!

PetShopBowl got in contact with us a few weeks back and after exchanging some quick emails, they sent out a big box of products for us to review just days later! We were very impressed with the super-speedy delivery! Let's do a quick background check...

Who are PetShopBowl?

"Hello from PetShopBowl!
PetShopBowl is a nationwide home delivery subscription service to pet food. We are a young company with a team of friendly, helpful staff dedicated to saving you time and money. All of our staff are pet owners so we understand the needs of other pet parents.
How it all began…
The idea for PetShopBowl came from the founder; Adam's personal experience. His mother suffers from arthritis and struggled with carrying heavy bags of dog food and last minute rushes to the supermarket to stock up on cat food. Adam also noticed that supermarket prices were really expensive and so he decided to set up a business with his partner Lexi that would make a positive impact on the pet industry.
What we do…
We stock over 10,000 products and all major brands of pet food and supplies
We offer a unique subscription service called Bottomless Bowl to ensure you never run out of pet food again.
We deliver everything straight to your door and offer free delivery on all orders over £19.99
We aim to provide excellent customer service."

Sounds pretty good, right? We thought so too!

Since my human baby brother arrived, it's been difficult getting out the house. On more than one occasion I've completely run out of food and dad has been sent out to the nearest pet shop to grab me some food - and that's IF they have it in stock!! Then there's the lugging it back home! Which currently, is not fun - we've had a lot of wet weather lately and our car is broke. Why go through all that hassle when we can pop over to PetShopBowl's website, select what we'd like and get the postman to deliver it straight to our door?!

Wait! There's more! By having a quick look on their website, we notice that they not only do dog food but also, dog toys, accessories, beds and flea and worming treatments! They also sell products for Cats, Birds, Reptiles, Fish and Small Furries! The website is well laid out and very easy to navigate.

So, what did we make of their service?

I didn't want to get too excited just in case it was ANOTHER package for baby Travis...
 Wait!.... Is this for ME?!
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! It is! It's all for meeee!
 What's in the box mum?
 PetShopBowl very kindly sent us:

A 2kg bag of Canagan Dry Dog Food

And a fabulous Kong Toy !!

It's two weeks later and I've just finished off the last can of Hills food. It was incredibly tasty but mum said it made my back end smell awful! Haha! I'm now halfway through my bag of Canagan and mum and I are both very impressed with the quality of this dry food - so much so that we're considering purchasing some more! Lily's Kitchen biscuits are soooo yummy although mum's not too impressed with the crumbs left in the rug... Oops.

And... I'm still enjoying my Kong toy :)
